Native renderer
Direct3D 11 draws the game on your graphics card, reproducing the PS2's graphics hardware. An exact emulation path stays in the code as the reference the renderer is tested against.
A PC port of Downhill Domination
The 2003 PS2 downhill racer, rebuilt from a matching decompilation and running natively on Windows, at a steady 60 fps, in higher resolution and widescreen, with online races.
Free. You need your own USA disc of the game (SCUS-97177).

The game runs at its original 59.94 Hz and every frame lands on a fixed grid, so motion never goes long-short-long. Pad input is read as late as possible before each frame.
Internal resolution from 1x to 4x, or matched to the window. A 16:9 Hor+ mode shows a wider view with the same vertical framing. Windowed, borderless or exclusive fullscreen.
A PC SETTINGS page in the game's own OPTIONS menu, drawn with its own menus and font: resolution, display mode, window size, picture shape, scaling, widescreen and vibration.
Saves are plain files in saves\card1 beside the game. Copy the folder to back them up.
2 to 4 players, experimental. Join a public race, or create a private one and share its 6-character code. In the race room the host picks the track.
The game's sound driver is replaced by a native mixer that plays the music, effects and reverb.
Xbox-style XInput pads with vibration. DualSense and DualShock 4 over USB or Bluetooth, without vibration so far. The keyboard works too.
Get the latest build from the releases page and unzip it anywhere.
Make an .iso of your USA disc of Downhill Domination, SCUS-97177. Other regions and modified images aren't supported.
The first time, pick your .iso. It's checked and remembered, so you won't be asked again unless the file moves.
Keyboard controls and where your settings and saves live are in the README.
You need your own copy of the game. Downhill Revived ships only its own code: no disc image, no game executable, no textures, sound, music or movies, and no BIOS. You supply the game by dumping your own disc. It is a fan project, not made, endorsed or supported by anyone who holds rights to the game.
Only the USA disc, SCUS-97177, for now. Other regions and modified images aren't supported.
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit (dhd.exe itself is a 32-bit program), a graphics card with Direct3D 11 (feature level 11_0), and a reasonably modern CPU, since the PS2's vector units run on the processor.
They're skipped for now. The intro and the VIDEO CLIPS menu need an MPEG-2 decoder that isn't written yet.
Yes, as an experimental feature for 2 to 4 players: public races, and private races joined with a 6-character code. Choose ONLINE in the main menu. Every player needs the same USA disc image. So far it has been tested with two games and two scripted players, so please report problems.
Yes, under GPL-3.0-or-later. The source is on GitHub. Building it needs the original game executable from your own disc.
